Study Area: Explore the structure-activity correlation of Ni catalysts on metal oxide supports, investigating their behavior during catalytic cycling. Employ in-situ X-ray scattering and other techniques to analyze catalyst stability, surface restructuring, and the effects of oxidative and reducing environments. The research contributes to understanding the methanation of CO2 using H2 for long-term energy storage.
Scholarship Description: This PhD position involves synthesizing heterogeneous catalysts, conducting beamtimes at synchrotron radiation facilities, and analyzing XRD and PDF data for structure refinement. Additionally, adapt existing setups for in-situ experiments, publish findings in scientific journals, and present results at conferences. The successful candidate will be employed under a regular contract, with the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.
Eligibility:
- Master’s degree in chemistry, physics, materials, or geoscience.
- Experience in at least two of the following: heterogeneous catalysts, mass spectrometry, X-ray scattering, scientific programming.
- High motivation for further training and academic qualification (doctorate).
- Proficiency in written and spoken English, and possibly German.
