Research Assistant (Doctoral Researcher/PhD): The Department of Medicine, Research Group on Translational Inflammation Research, led by Prof. Dr. Mareike Lehmann at the University of Marburg, is inviting applications for the position of Research Assistant (Doctoral Researcher/PhD). This part-time role (65% employment) is offered for a duration of 3 years, beginning as soon as possible. The salary and benefits are commensurate with a public service position in the state of Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 65%).

Research Area: Translational Inflammation Research, with a focus on cellular ageing mechanisms in chronic lung diseases

Location: University of Marburg, Hesse, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed scientific university studies (diploma, master’s degree, or comparable) in life sciences
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in common molecular and cell biological methods
  • Experience in working with primary cell cultures
  • Desirable: Experience in extracellular vesicle isolations, immunofluorescence staining, and microscopy
  • Willingness to pursue a doctorate project in the area of lung research

Job Description:

Research Assistant (Doctoral Researcher/PhD) in Translational Inflammation Research

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identification and analysis of extracellular vesicles from cell culture and human body fluids
  • Production of precision lung sections
  • Production and analysis of lung organoids
  • Isolation of human primary cells from the lung
  • Functional analyses of ageing and regeneration mechanisms in various human cell culture models of the lung and heart
  • Scientific services in research in the field of translational lung research
  • Participation in the international graduate school MBML (desirable)
