Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Researcher: The Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE is seeking a Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Researcher to join the European project ESG UPTAKE. The project aims to strengthen climate and ESG financial risk assessment at supervisory authorities in the EU. The selected candidate will work in the team of Prof. Dr. Loriana Pelizzon on data and methods for supervision of climate and ESG risks in Capital Markets across several European countries.

Location: Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE, Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants should meet one of the following criteria: (i) Enrollment in a Ph.D. program, (ii) Ph.D. degree, or (iii) Master’s with 3-4 years of relevant professional experience in Economics, Sustainable Finance, Environmental Sciences, or Computer Sciences. Strong quantitative finance and financial economics background, familiarity with climate-related financial risks, and proficiency in coding software (Python, STATA, etc.) are required. Experience with unstructured data, text mining, and natural language processing techniques is essential. Excellent communication skills, ability to work independently, and interact with stakeholders are also necessary.

Job Description: The selected candidate will contribute to the supervision of financial market activities in Europe and the EU sustainable finance agenda. Responsibilities include conducting research, interacting with national financial supervisory authorities, designing and implementing data analysis methodologies, and producing policy-relevant reports and research articles. Occasional travel within Europe is involved.
