Research Assistant/PhD Scholarship: The Visual Inference Lab at the Department of Computer Science, Technical University Darmstadt, is offering a Research Assistant / PhD position. This scholarship provides an opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in computer vision and machine learning under the supervision of Prof. Stefan Roth, Ph.D. The position is initially limited to three years but can be extended by up to two more years, with a focus on developing (deep) learning approaches and statistical methods for various applications in computer vision.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Outstanding university science degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in computer science, cognitive science, mathematics, electrical engineering, physics, or related disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of computer vision, machine learning, and/or cognitive science is beneficial
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, along with programming proficiency
  • High intrinsic motivation, reliability, creativity, and ability to communicate scientific results in English
  • Potential for outstanding, independent research and teamwork

Description: The Visual Inference Lab conducts leading research in computer vision, focusing on visual scene analysis, motion estimation, object recognition, and deep learning. The selected candidate will engage in research topics such as explainable AI, probabilistic deep learning, and unsupervised deep models. Teaching duties, including assisting with courses and supervising theses, are also part of the role.
