Eligibility/Qualification

  • University degree (Diplom, Master or comparable) in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry with a focus on multistep organic synthesis and solid-phase synthesis in chemical biology.
  • Experience with bacterial culture, display technology, cloning, plasmid design, and protein expression.
  • Strong theoretical and practical background in protein inhibition, particularly in RNase E.
  • Interest in understanding biological processes at the atomic level.
  • Self-driven and passionate team player.
  • Willingness to pursue a doctoral project in the context of chemical biology focused on RNase E inhibition.

Description

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on independent research with a high degree of autonomy in various scientific tasks, including:

  • Development of own research projects.
  • Design and conduct of multistep organic synthesis.
  • Implementation of biological techniques (RNA cleavage assays, bacterial experiments, anisotropy).
  • Protein expression using bacteria and/or cell-free systems.
  • Supervision of students in teaching roles.

The position is catered to facilitate the completion of a doctoral degree, adhering to applicable limits set by § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.
