Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, biomathematics, or a related discipline by the start of employment.
  • Solid knowledge in bioinformatic genome analysis.
  • Programming skills in Python and Bash (without AI).
  • Experience in stand-alone software development.
  • Excellent proficiency in English.
  • Desired:
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow).
  • Skills in Snakemake or Nextflow.
  • Experience in analyzing large NGS datasets.
  • High Performance Computing skills (e.g., SLURM).
  • Knowledge of software version control (e.g., git).
  • Strong motivation and high qualifications for interdisciplinary research.
  • Independent working style with a team-oriented mindset.

Description

The successful candidate will work on a subproject investigating how phytoplankton-produced glycans affect microbiome composition and carbon sequestration. Duties include:

  • Genome and metagenome assembly and annotation.
  • Development of bioinformatic data analysis pipelines.
  • Incorporating deep learning tools for sequence annotation.
  • Integrating multi-OMICs datasets.
  • Presenting findings and preparing scientific publications.

This position provides an avenue for academic qualification conducive to preparing for a doctorate.
