Research Assistant (Postdoc): The Department of Biology at the University of Marburg is inviting applications for a part-time Research Assistant (Postdoc) position in the field of Plant Biodiversity and Evolutionary Ecology of Plants. The position is within the Junker research group and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research on plant-microbe responses to drought.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Educational Requirements:
- Diploma or Master’s degree and a PhD in plant ecology, plant biology, or related fields.
- Postdoc Experience:
- Strong publication record in the field of plant responses to environmental stressors.
- Skills:
- Experience with plant growth under greenhouse and field conditions.
- Proficiency in using command line tools such as R.
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot effectively.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Strong teamwork skills.
Job Description:
- Contract Duration: One year, starting on September 1, 2024
- Volume of Employment: Part-time (50 % of regular working hours)
- Salary: Commensurate with public service positions in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 50%).
Responsibilities:
- Conducting experiments as part of a DFG-funded project.
- Performing field and laboratory work focusing on plant-microbe responses to drought.
- Analyzing existing datasets.
- Presenting updates and findings at group and scientific meetings.
- Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participating in research group activities such as lab meetings and mentoring students.
Note: The position is temporary and aimed at gaining further scientific expertise. It complies with § 2, 1 WissZeitVG for the contract limitation.
