Research Assistant – Predoc/Postdoc: The Department of English Studies at Heidelberg University is inviting applications for the position of Research Assistant (f/m/d) in the field of English Sociolinguistics or Discourse Analysis. This position is available under the Chair of English Studies: Linguistics (Professor Heyd), full time, 39.5 hours/week, and is limited to 3.5 years. The anticipated start date is April 1, 2024.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Very good university degree in an English studies program with a substantial component in English linguistics
- Research interests in English sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, or discourse analysis
- Excellent command of English (C2) and very good command of written and spoken German (B2)
- Working towards a doctorate or Habilitation
Job Description: The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting research in the specified field, actively participating in conferences, publishing research papers, and assisting with the development of teaching and research projects of the chair. The role also involves academic teaching in the degree programs of the English Department, with a teaching load of four hours per week. Additionally, the Research Assistant will contribute to the establishment of a digital research methods platform and assist with administrative and organizational tasks within the Department of English Studies.
