Research Associate at Imperial College: Imperial College London’s Department of Life Sciences (Silwood Park) is seeking a Research Associate to contribute to the establishment of the Defra-UKRI One Health VBD Hub. This full-time, fixed-term position is funded by Defra and the BBSRC for up to 34 months. The Hub aims to support and coordinate the UK’s response to the increasing threat posed by vector-borne diseases (VBDs), integrating expertise in transmission, control, data sharing, and forecasting.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Epidemiology, Infectious Disease, Ecology, or a related discipline (candidates near completion will be appointed as Research Assistants)
- Experience in R, Python, or similar coding in the Unix environment
- Proficiency in data visualization, especially on maps
- Experience with GIS and spatially-explicit data
- Practical research experience, including published articles
- Knowledge of predicting transmission dynamics of VBDs and complex ecological systems
- Working knowledge of data management and security
Job Description: The Research Associate will contribute to the UK’s preparedness for VBD threats by developing key resources and tools. Responsibilities include creating bespoke data visualizations, delivering software for linking data on pathogens, vectors, and hosts, and developing independent research projects to enhance understanding of VBD risk. The role also involves providing training to the UK community on tool usage and collaborating within a large team.
