Postdoc in Germany

Research Associate -(Bio)Chemical Dynamics: Embark on a dynamic research journey as a Research Associate at the Cluster of Excellence “CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter.” This project focuses on advancing the understanding of thermally-excited gas-phase molecular systems using Laser-Induced Electron Diffraction (LIED). Join the CFEL-CMI group, contributing to groundbreaking research in molecular control and imaging, and unravel the mysteries of ultrafast (bio)chemical dynamics.

Study Area: Laser-induced Electron Diffraction for Ultrafast (Bio)Chemical Dynamics

Location: Center for Free-Electron Laser Science (CFEL), Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Hamburg, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • University degree in a relevant field (physics or chemistry recommended)
  • Strong background in experimental physics or gas-phase physical chemistry
  • Proficiency in quantum mechanics
  • Experience or willingness to work with molecular beams, ion or electron imaging, ultrafast lasers, and optics
  • Programming capabilities desirable
  • Highly motivated individual with a commitment to independent research and collaboration

Description: As a Research Associate, your responsibilities include academic services for the project, conducting experiments, analyzing and interpreting results, collaborating with theoreticians, and contributing to academic articles. The role is based at CFEL in Hamburg, providing exposure to a wide range of scientific activities. The project aims to investigate thermal-energy chemical dynamics in chemical model systems and the interactions between molecular building blocks of life and water.
