Research Associate/Fellow (Fixed Term): The School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham invites applications for the position of Research Associate/Fellow in the Translational Medical Sciences department. The role, located within the Biodiscovery Institute and affiliated with the £23m National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, focuses on studying the infectivity of the viral immunotherapeutic agent TROCEPT in fibrotic lung tissue. This project, funded by Accession Therapeutics, contributes to the preclinical development of TROCEPT.

Research Associate/Fellow (Fixed Term) – Biodiscovery Institute

Study Area: Translational Medical Sciences, Biodiscovery, Viral Immunotherapy, Fibrotic Lung Tissue.

Location: University Park, Biodiscovery Institute, University of Nottingham, UK.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD or equivalent in professional qualifications.
  • Consideration for candidates nearing the submission of their PhD thesis.
  • Desirable: Experience in working with human and rodent tissue, knowledge of Human Tissue Authority requirements, handling viruses, and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.

Description: The successful candidate will employ precision cut lung slices (PCLS) as a 3D culture model to study the infectivity of TROCEPT in fibrotic lung tissue. Responsibilities include optimizing the model for viral infection studies, conducting end-point analyses (immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, qRT-PCR, western blotting), and presenting results internally and externally to Accession Therapeutics. The role is within the laboratory group of Dr. Amanda Tatler, an expert in PCLS research on respiratory diseases.

This is a fixed-term post until March 31, 2025, with full-time hours (36.25 per week). Part-time applications (minimum 29 hours per week) are also welcome. Job share arrangements may be considered.
