Postdoctoral Position in UK United Kingdom

Research Associate/Fellow (Fixed Term): An exciting opportunity is open for motivated and enthusiastic candidates to join a research project funded by UKRI frontier science. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Rita Tewari and investigate the unconventional dynamics and regulation of rapid cell division during Plasmodium male gamete formation.

Designation: Research Associate/Fellow

Research Area: Research will primarily focus on protein complexes involved in parasite cell division during transmission stages, using conditional gene modulation through CRISPR-Cas9, AID and Dicer, and protein-protein interactions using mass-spectrometry proteomics and yeast two- and three-hybrid assays. The candidate will closely collaborate with Dr. Stephen Gray on yeast two and three hybrid work to understand cyclin and CDK interactions and their role in the parasite’s atypical cell cycle and cell division. Furthermore, the research will investigate parasite development in both the host and mosquito vector.

Location: United Kingdom

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates must hold a PhD (awarded or pending) in a relevant field.

Job Description:
The post is a fixed-term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position available from 4th November 2024 until 3rd November 2026, with the potential for a further 1-year extension subject to funding. The position may also consider job share arrangements, and requests for secondment from internal candidates.
