Research Associate (Fixed Term): The Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge is inviting applications for a fixed-term position as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Microbiome Function and Diversity group led by Dr Alexandre Almeida. The project focuses on the application of large-scale metagenomic approaches to explore the human gut microbiome’s role in health and disease. The successful candidate will extend research into other microbiome members (archaea, fungi, and viruses) and their contributions to gut health. The role involves processing and analyzing numerous metagenomic datasets to identify multi-kingdom taxonomic and functional signatures using computational genomics, machine learning, and advanced statistical approaches.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline

- Proficiency in Unix (bash), Python, and R programming
- Advantageous: Understanding of microbial physiology and biochemistry
- Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and collaboration
Job Description: The Research Associate will:
