Research Associate in AI for Chemistry: Imperial College London is seeking a talented Research Associate to join the AI for Chemistry (AIchemy) hub, focusing on multi-modal generative AI for small molecules and materials. This exciting opportunity involves pioneering research in advancing artificial intelligence and machine learning in the field of chemistry and collaborating with a diverse team of AI researchers, experimental and computational chemists, and machine-learning academics.

Designation: Research Associate

Research Area: AI for Chemistry (AIchemy), multi-modal generative AI for small molecules and materials, advancing artificial intelligence and machine learning in the field of chemistry.

Location: London, White City Campus

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Hold, or be near completion of, a PhD in Chemistry or Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
  • Practical experience in generative AI, preferably for chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge in state-of-the-art machine learning methods, ideally for use in the chemical sciences.
  • Knowledge of machine learning representations in the chemical sciences, such as graph neural networks.
  • Proven strong publication track record in machine learning, computational chemistry, or a closely related discipline.

Job Description:
The successful Research Associate will have the exciting opportunity to design and implement novel algorithms in generative AI applicable across large-scale multi-modal chemistry data, collaborate with the team at Imperial College London and across the UK-wide AIchemy hub, co-develop the project in partnership with experimental and theoretical chemists, and machine-learning academics across the Chemistry and Computing Departments. This role provides considerable academic freedom and will leverage the deep science base of Imperial College London, the University of Liverpool, other UK academics, and industrial partners. The position is supported by AI Futures Grants, providing financial support to meet relocation costs.
