Research Associate in Molecular Microbiology: The University of Glasgow is seeking an experienced Research Associate to explore the mechanisms and evolutionary dynamics of phage-anti-phage systems within the School of Infection and Immunity. Research Area:

Molecular Microbiology focusing on phage-anti-phage systems dynamics, particularly in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Location:

Glasgow, United Kingdom

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Academic Qualification: Normally Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 [PhD] in bacteriology or a related discipline with at least 2 years’ post-doctoral experience.
  • Essential Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in molecular cloning, genetics, microbiology, and bioinformatics.
  • Excellent skills in fluorescence microscopy, bioinformatics data analysis (Unix/Python), and communication abilities.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will:

  1. Plan and conduct research in alignment with project deliverables and the group’s research strategy.
  2. Document research outputs, analyze data, and draft reports/publications.
  3. Establish an in vitro endotracheal tube model in collaboration with the Harrison lab.
  4. Contribute to the writing of publications and research proposals.
  5. Engage in teaching activities and mentor undergraduate/postgraduate students.
  6. Undertake administrative tasks related to the research group.
  7. Participate in group meetings and enhance the culture of the School.
