Research Associate in Protein Dynamics, University of Manchester, UK

Research Associate in Synthetic Chemistry, University of Manchester, UK

Research Associate in Protein Dynamics: The University of Manchester, within the Division of Molecular and Cellular Function, invites applications for a Research Associate in Protein Dynamics. This fixed-term position, funded by the BBSRC, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a 3-year project studying the dynamics of protein complexes involved in the biosynthesis of ribosomally synthesized natural products (RiPPs).

Designation: Research Associate

Research Area: Protein Dynamics, Structural Biology, Biophysics

Location: Manchester

Eligibility/Qualification: The ideal candidate should have a strong background in EPR spectroscopy, structural biology, or biophysics. A PhD (or close to completion) in EPR spectroscopy, Structural Biology, Biophysics, or a closely allied discipline is required. Previous experience in structural mass spectrometry or protein biochemistry is highly desirable.

Job Description: The Research Associate will work in collaboration with Dr. Christos Pliotas (University of Manchester), Dr. Argyris Politis (Manchester), and Prof Jesko Koehnke (Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany). The project focuses on investigating two RiPP biosynthetic enzyme complexes, primarily using EPR spectroscopy within the newly established BioEmPiRe centre. The goal is to understand the structural dynamics of these complexes and advance our knowledge of RiPP biosynthesis. The position involves validating protein complex dynamics through HDX mass spectrometry.

How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their applications, including a CV, a letter of motivation specifying the positions applied for, reasons for pursuing a PhD, and the chosen projects. Include relevant certificates, names and addresses of two academic referees, and a completed form available for download on the Pliotas Group Research Website.

Last Date for Apply: The application deadline is 05/03/2024. Apply now to be part of cutting-edge research in protein dynamics and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in RiPP biosynthesis.

Further Particulars: For detailed information, refer to the Further Particulars document containing the person specification criteria.

The University of Manchester is an equal opportunities employer, promoting diversity in the workforce. We welcome applicants from all sections of the community.
