Eligibility / Qualification

Required:

  • PhD in Plant Breeding or related fields (e.g., Quantitative Genetics, Animal Breeding, Statistical Genetics, Population Genetics)
  • Strong expertise in quantitative genetics and biostatistics (including AI-based approaches)
  • Proficiency in programming (R/Python) and handling large datasets (genomic, transcriptomic, SNP data)
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken); German (B2) is an advantage
  • Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication abilities

Desirable:

  • Teaching and mentoring experience
  • Experience in supervising research students
  • Track record in acquiring and managing research projects
  • Collaboration experience with academic and industry partners

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct independent postdoctoral research in quantitative genetics and predictive breeding
  • Develop innovative data analysis pipelines using R/Python for large-scale datasets
  • Advance classical and modern breeding methodologies
  • Teach courses in plant breeding, quantitative genetics, experimental design, and biostatistics
  • Supervise and mentor PhD, MSc, and BSc students
  • Acquire third-party funding and manage research projects
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences
  • Engage in science communication, outreach, and technology transfer
  • Collaborate with academic institutions and industry stakeholders
