Research Associate in Structural Biology: The Costa Laboratory at Imperial College London is inviting applications for a Research Associate in Structural Biology. This position focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) and is funded by the Wellcome Trust Discovery Award.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Structural Biology.
  • Strong experience in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) workflows, including grid preparation and single-particle analysis (SPA).
  • Proven research track record, including at least one first-author publication in an international peer-reviewed journal or as a preprint on bioRxiv.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Job Description

You will join an interdisciplinary team addressing fundamental questions in HGT biology. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting cryo-EM studies of macromolecular nanomachines.
  • Engaging in collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
  • Contributing to high-profile projects and producing impactful publications.
  • Presenting research at national and international conferences.
  • Receiving mentorship in grant writing and publication strategy.
