Research Associate (Postdoc): The Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg is seeking a highly motivated and committed Research Associate for a fixed-term contract of three years, with the possibility of extension. The position involves teaching and research in the field of applied microeconomics, focusing on industrial or organizational economics. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic department, engaging in independent research, academic qualifications, and teaching responsibilities.

Designation: Research Associate (Postdoc)

Research Area: Applied Microeconomics (Preferably in Industrial or Organizational Economics)

Location: Von-Melle-Park 5, 20146 Hamburg

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • University degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate.
  • Desirable: PhD in economics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Specialization in applied microeconomics with experience in experimental and behavioral economics, microeconometrics, and strong computer skills (e.g., Python, C++, JavaScript, oTree, Prolific).
  • Excellent English skills required; good command of German is advantageous.

Salary Level: EGR. 13 TV-L

Start Date: 01.05.2024, fixed for three years, with a possibility of extension

Scope of Work: Full-time position suitable for part-time, with at least one-third of working hours dedicated to the associate’s academic work.

Job Description:

  • Teaching load of 5 hours per semester, including courses, tutorials, and supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
  • Engage in independent research and contribute to the research and third-party funding activities of the chair and the Department of Economics.
  • Collaborate with a collegial and research-oriented team in a dynamic department.
