Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x): The Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), an institute of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) at TUD Dresden University of Technology, is offering a position as Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x) in the Junior Research Group Gene regulatory mechanisms of neocortex evolution of Dr. Mareike Albert. The position is scheduled to commence on December 1, 2024, and is for a duration of 4 years.
Designation: Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)
Research Area: Neocortex development and evolution, gene regulatory mechanisms in neural progenitor cells, neurogenesis, and neuron maturation.
Location: Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), TUD Dresden, Germany.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- University and PhD degree in biology, genetics, neuroscience, or a related subject.
- Experience in mouse genetics or organoid generation, single cell sequencing technologies, and bioinformatics skills, especially in the analysis of scRNA-seq data.
- Background in neurogenesis, stem cells, gene expression, and/or epigenetics.
- Capable of autonomously leading a high-profile research project with quality publications or preprints.
- Excellent communication skills in written and oral English, strong interpersonal skills, highly organized and well-versed in the relevant literature.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will spearhead the study of the development and evolution of the neocortex, focusing on gene regulatory mechanisms in neural progenitor cells, neurogenesis, and neuron maturation. Key responsibilities include implementing single cell technologies (scRNA-seq, CyTOF, etc.) and electrophysiological analysis, participating in collaborative international research, contributing to teaching in the field of epigenetics, stem cells, and neurobiology, and supervising rotation and thesis projects.
