Research Associate Scholarship: UWE Bristol is offering an exciting scholarship opportunity for a Research Associate to conduct research on a BBSRC-funded project entitled “Bac-chat: Bacterial density-dependent quorum sensing mechanisms in Acute Oak Decline symptom development.”
Designation: Research Associate
Research Area: The project involves researching chemical signalling molecules responsible for communication and interaction between AOD bacteria, determining their influence on lesion development, and exploring their role in the potential shift from an endophytic to pathogenic lifestyle.
Location: Frenchay Campus, UWE Bristol
Eligibility/Qualification: Highly motivated candidates with a PhD in molecular microbiology or a related field of study are encouraged to apply. Applicants should demonstrate sufficient knowledge in research methods and techniques to fulfill the project objectives. Previous experience in bacterial transformation and mutagenesis, confocal microscopy, next-generation sequencing, and data analysis would be advantageous.
Job Description: The successful candidate will join an expanding research group dedicated to tree health and assist in the daily running of the lab, as well as supervisor current and new PhD students. The position is based at the lively Frenchay campus, which offers access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources. The successful candidate will be involved in four-year post-doctoral research and will contribute to the broader research efforts at UWE Bristol.
