Research Associate – Solid-state NMR: The Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated and skilled post-doctoral research associate to join the group of Dr Alexander Forse. The successful candidate will contribute to a 5-year ERC starting grant project focused on developing and studying conducting metal-organic framework (MOF) materials for energy storage. The project involves carrying out solid-state NMR experiments to investigate materials structure and energy storage mechanisms in MOFs. This is a fixed-term position for 2 years initially, with the possibility of extension.

Job Description:

  • Conduct solid-state NMR experiments to investigate materials structure and energy storage mechanisms in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
  • Manage solid-state NMR activities within the Forse group and provide training to team members in NMR techniques.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team on a 5-year ERC starting grant project focused on developing and studying conducting MOF materials for energy storage.
  • Utilize resources such as 400 and 600 MHz NMR spectrometers (Bruker), potentiostats for electrochemistry measurements, gas sorption instruments, and diffraction resources for research purposes.
  • Contribute to the development of new materials for climate change mitigation and energy storage.
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and work-life balance within the research group.
  • Engage in scientific communication, including writing publications and presenting research findings at conferences.
