Research Associate x 2: The Genomic & Environmental Medicine Section of the NHLI is recruiting two Research Associates to join their team. The positions offer an opportunity to work on advanced statistical and programming methods related to either longitudinal cohorts or adaptive clinical trial design, based on the background and interests of the successful candidates. The roles involve contributing to epidemiological investigations, leading research teams, and addressing scientific problems in the field of respiratory health and disease.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD (or about to hold a PhD) in statistics, biostatistics, or epidemiology. Candidates awaiting official award of their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistants.
- Significant practical experience in data analysis and programming for health research, demonstrated by contributions to publications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong knowledge of data analysis and programming processes, including proficiency in R.
- Ability to develop and apply new concepts, work with minimal supervision, and creatively solve problems.
- Passion and drive to tackle scientific problems, with the ability to direct research teams and motivate others.
Job Description:
- Develop and apply advanced statistical and programming methods for issues of statistical design and analysis, with a focus on either longitudinal cohorts or adaptive clinical trial design.
- Contribute to epidemiological investigations in respiratory health and disease, including population-based and workforce-based health surveys.
- Plan and perform independent research, present findings at conferences, and contribute to grant requests, peer-reviewed publications, and reports to research sponsors.
- Direct smaller research teams, mentor and train less experienced group members in learning and adapting new methods.
