Research Fellow (106739-0524): We are seeking an adventurous and talented researcher to join the recently awarded £7.3M EPSRC Programme Grant, MaThRad (Mathematical Theory of Radiation Transport) at the University of Warwick. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for three years, offering a salary of £33,966 – £44,263 per annum. The successful candidate will contribute to an interdisciplinary research programme employing modern mathematical methods to advance the theory and application of radiation transport.
Designation: Research Fellow
Research Area: Mathematical Theory of Radiation Transport, focusing on probability theory, advanced Monte Carlo methods, and inverse problems.
Location: University of Warwick Campus, Coventry
Eligibility/Qualification:
- A PhD in a related field is desirable.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Interacting particle systems for Monte Carlo methods and rare event simulation
- Statistical physics for transport modelling
- Branching structures and/or stochastic modelling
- Candidates should demonstrate versatility and provide evidence of their ability to work in these areas.
Job Description: The successful candidate will be involved in developing predictive mathematical models and software prototypes for applications in energy, healthcare, and space exploration nuclear industries. Specific research themes include:
- Mathematical representations of Boltzmann Transport Equation solutions
- Correlation and path decomposition in spatial branching
- Interacting Particles in multiplying media
- Monte Carlo for fixed source problems
The postdoctoral position also offers the possibility of undertaking an academic or industrial placement with one of our 26 partners.
