Research Fellow: An exciting opportunity is available at the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) for a Research Fellow to lead an innovative research programme focused on understanding and reversing neuronal and circuit dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease. Research Area
The research focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, examining the role of molecular, cellular, and neural circuit changes—specifically involving tau and amyloid proteins—and their impact on memory loss and cognitive decline.
Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD: A doctorate in neuroscience, engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
- Experience: Practical experience with in vivo two-photon calcium imaging and/or Neuropixels electrophysiology.
- Skills: Strong background in analytical/statistical analysis, proficient programming and coding skills, excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Lead a high-impact project aimed at understanding neuronal and circuit dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease.
- Utilize advanced techniques such as in vivo two-photon calcium imaging and/or Neuropixels electrophysiology to record neuronal activity across large populations.
- Apply a variety of experimental and analytical approaches to investigate dysfunction mechanisms and develop novel therapeutic interventions.
