Research Fellow at University of Warwick: The University of Warwick’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to advance the understanding of ice nucleation processes and their impact on cloud formation, precipitation, and climate regulation. This fixed-term position is supported by the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and involves collaboration with the University of Leeds.

Research Area:

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
  • Strong background in molecular dynamics simulations and a solid understanding of atmospheric science is highly desirable.
  • Experience in high-performance computing and model development is advantageous.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will engage in the development of novel “toy models” of ice formation, utilizing state-of-the-art molecular dynamics simulations while validating findings against experimental and field data. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting extensive molecular simulations of ice nucleation at complex surfaces.
  • Collaborating with theoretical and experimental teams at Warwick and Leeds.
  • Implementing developed models into the Met Office Unified Model to enhance ice formation representation in clouds.
  • Contributing to interdisciplinary research bridging molecular physics and climate science.

Through this position, the candidate will play a crucial role in addressing critical challenges in atmospheric research, supported by a dynamic and world-class team at the University of Warwick.
