Research Fellow – COREX Project: The University College London (UCL) seeks a Research Fellow to join the Molecular and Cultural Evolution (MACE) Lab. This position focuses on the COREX project, applying statistical analysis and computational modeling to explore human evolution through genetic, archaeological, and environmental data.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD or equivalent qualification in computational science, mathematics, biological science, archaeology, or geography.
  • Relevant experience in computational modeling and model-based statistical inference.
  • Strong interest in ancient DNA and archaeology is preferred.

Job Description:
As a Research Fellow on the COREX project, you will:

  • Engage actively in Work Package 3 (Exploratory analyses and discriminative models) and Work Package 4 (Generative models and explanations).
  • Utilize the Big Interdisciplinary Archaeological Database (BIAD) to examine patterns of co-variation among genetic, archaeological, and environmental datasets.
  • Develop agent-based models to understand how large-scale processes, such as mass migration, stem from localized interactions and identity signaling.
  • Collaborate with leading researchers, including Professor Mark Thomas and Professor Stephen Shennan, within a diverse academic environment.

This position is a full-time, open-ended contract, starting from November 1, 2025, and funded until November 24, 2027.
