Research Fellow in Biosystems Modelling: The University of Warwick’s School of Engineering is recruiting a Research Fellow in Biosystems Modelling and Control for a full-time, fixed-term position until February 28, 2027. This role is part of the Control and Engineering Biology group and is associated with the EPSRC-funded project Combinatorial Biosynthetic Pathway Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to the transformative development of biosynthetic pathway engineering, focusing on predictable and efficient processes through advanced modelling and integration of genetic, metabolic, and resource-related factors.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics)
  • Expertise in dynamical systems modelling and its application to biological problems
  • Proficiency in model building and simulation in MATLAB, Python, Mathematica, or Julia
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Good IT skills for technical research paper writing and presentations

Job Description: The Research Fellow will be responsible for developing a holistic systems-wide dynamic model capturing metabolism and gene expression constraints. This includes model calibration and data fitting. The role involves collaborating with the project team, proposing engineering strategies to enhance productivity, and presenting findings at national and international conferences. The Research Fellow will also contribute to project reports, address management/administration issues, and maintain diligent records and computer code.
