Research Fellow in Governing Energy-Mobility: The Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex Business School is seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to the European Research Council project ‘Governing sustainable energy-mobility transitions: multi-level policy mixes, transformative capacities, and low-carbon innovations’ (EMPOCI). The project investigates the acceleration of low-carbon transitions in interconnected energy and mobility systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in quantitative survey research methods and a keen interest in e-mobility transitions.

Location: Brighton, United Kingdom

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Innovation, Transitions, and/or Policy Studies, or a related social science degree (e.g., psychology, sociology, economics, management studies).
  • Excellent knowledge of survey research methods, including design, implementation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in advanced quantitative analysis methods of survey data (e.g., multi-variate regression analysis, cluster and factor analysis, choice experiments).
  • Experience in conducting and/or supervising survey data collection with different actors (business, citizen, policy, academia, society) and formats (online, CATI).
  • Excellent skills in SPSS, STATA, R, or other statistical software packages.
  • Expertise in research ethics, data, and project management.

Job Description:

Research Fellow in Governing Energy-Mobility Transitions

The Research Fellow will collaborate with Professor Karoline Rogge and two PhD students to refine an interdisciplinary analytical framework for investigating interconnected transition processes in the energy-mobility system. Responsibilities include leading multi-actor surveys in four countries, conducting empirical research in the US (California) and the UK (Scotland), analyzing global dynamics of sustainable energy-mobility transitions, integrating findings across actors, countries, and methods, and contributing to the mapping of relevant actors and multi-level policy mixes. Additionally, the Research Fellow will co-lead external dissemination and stakeholder engagement activities.
