Research Fellow in High-Fidelity Augmented Reality in Laparoscopic Liver Resection

Location:
Leeds – Main Campus, Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences, School of Computer Science

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related discipline (or thesis submitted before role commencement).
  • Extensive coding experience (Python, C++).
  • Published works in top-tier conferences/journals.
  • Experience with vision-related problems and deep learning (preferably using PyTorch).

Job Description:
The successful candidate will:

  • Lead research on real-time and highly accurate preoperative-to-intraoperative fusion challenges in surgery.
  • Develop novel solutions to tackle vision ambiguity, occlusions, and other surgical complications.
  • Set up experiments with controlled robotic arms and sensors on phantom models.
  • Collaborate with computational scientists and clinical surgeons to advance surgical care.
