Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Lung Biology: The UBC and St. Paul’s Hospital Centre for Heart Lung Innovation and STEMCELL Technologies Inc. are collaborating on a grant-sponsored award opportunity and seeking a highly motivated researcher for a fixed-term 2-year post-doctoral fellowship. This position aims to develop improved model systems for assessing the in vitro efficacy of modulator therapies in cystic fibrosis (CF).

Eligibility/QualificationPh.D. in cell biology, biochemistry, or a relevant life sciences field. Practical expertise in mammalian cell culture is required. Specific experience with primary lung culture is an asset. Proficiency in experimental design, execution, and data analysis. Experience with flow cytometry, immunostaining, and qPCR is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills and an organized and proactive mindset.
Job Description– Develop and optimize improved cell culture models, protocols, and methodologies. – Plan and execute projects, analyze and interpret data, report findings, and present results. – Troubleshoot and resolve complex scientific and technical investigations. – Present data at team and department meetings. – Perform literature reviews and apply experimental strategies and troubleshooting.

Job Description: As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Lung Biology, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and optimizing improved cell culture models
  • Creating detailed protocols and methodologies
  • Project planning, experimental design, execution, data analysis, interpretation, reporting, and presenting
  • Identifying areas of improvement and troubleshooting complex scientific and technical investigations
  • Presenting data at team and department meetings, providing conclusions, and future plans
  • Conducting literature reviews to apply experimental strategies and troubleshooting based on product design
