Location: London

Eligibility/Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant area of Life or Physical Sciences (or thesis submitted)
  • Outstanding research track record with publications
  • Essential experience in advanced microscopy; specific experience in in-liquid atomic force microscopy and/or microbiology preferred
  • Demonstrated ability for independent research, multitasking, meeting deadlines, and working in multidisciplinary teams

Job Description:

  • Develop and apply atomic force microscopy (AFM) to study the outer membrane of pathogenic bacteria
  • Investigate assembly and growth principles of the outer membrane
  • Explore how antibiotics interact with the outer membrane to combat bacteria
  • Collaborate with Wellcome-Trust funded research program partners
  • Initiate and conduct research at the interface of biophysics, biochemistry, and microbiology
  • Flexible start date up to 1st April 2025
  • Initial appointment for 3 years, with potential for extension based on funding
