- Strong background in electrochemistry and Li battery technologies
- Experience in Li battery cell assembly and characterisation
- A PhD degree in a relevant field (appointment at Grade 7 requires PhD; candidates without a PhD will be appointed at Grade 6B)
- Eligible for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation
Job Description
The selected candidate will undertake research focused on prototyping advanced Li batteries using scalable thin films as templating layers. The main duties include:
- Making battery cells for lithium-ion batteries and all-solid-state batteries (coin up to pouch cells)
- Developing battery cells using various approaches including cathode coating, anode coating, and anode-free configuration
- Conducting electrochemical characterisation of battery cells (e.g., EIS, CV, cycling tests)
- Analysing battery materials and cells using techniques such as X-ray CT, SEM, and TEM
