Research Fellow in the Bendor Lab: The Institute of Behavioural Neuroscience at University College London is seeking a dedicated Research Fellow to join the Bendor Lab. Eligibility/Qualification

  • A PhD or in progress towards a PhD in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Medicine, or a related field.
  • Relevant laboratory experience is essential; training will be provided.
  • Experience with rodent behaviour studies, large-scale electrophysiological methods, and optogenetics.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using MATLAB or Python.
  • A Home Office personal license is desirable.
  • Familiarity with immunohistochemistry and microscopy techniques is a plus.

Job Description

The successful applicant will join the Bendor Lab to investigate how memories are prioritized for long-term storage by hippocampal replay. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting behavioural experiments to study the functional role of hippocampal replay in rodents.
  • Utilizing optogenetics and large-scale electrophysiological recording methods, including Neuropixels.
  • Performing data analysis on replay activity in large populations of hippocampal place cells.
  • Carrying out a variety of procedures related to ongoing experiments, such as surgeries, perfusions, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy.
  • Collaborating with team members on research projects.

The position is initially funded for 2 years and requires a commitment to the research goals of the laboratory.
