Research Fellow – Neural Computations, UCL, London, UK

Postdoctoral Position in UK United Kingdom

Research Fellow – Neural Computations: Join us at the Department of Imaging Neuroscience and contribute to pioneering research in the field of cognitive neuroscience. We are seeking a talented and motivated Research Fellow to work on the project “Revealing the neural computations that distinguish imagination from reality (MonitoringReality).” This is an exciting opportunity to uncover the neural mechanisms of perceptual reality monitoring and contribute to advancing our understanding of the human brain.

Research Fellow – Revealing the Neural Computations That Distinguish Imagination from Reality

Designation: Research Fellow
Research Area: Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, Experimental Psychology
Location: London
Salary: £43,124–£51,610
Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD or close to obtaining a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., cognitive neuroscience, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, or experimental psychology)
  • Demonstrable experience in at least one of the following areas of cognitive neuroscience research: (Visual) mental imagery, Visual perception, Reality monitoring, Visual consciousness
  • Experience with neuroimaging analysis methods and using packages such as MATLAB, Python etc for statistical analysis
  • Experience with the recruitment and behavioural/neuroimaging testing of human participants, and with applying machine learning approaches to behavioural, fMRI, and/or MEG data

Job Description:
The Research Fellow will undertake high-quality research combining novel behavioral and neuroimaging experiments on human participants with state-of-the-art analysis approaches to uncover the neural mechanisms underpinning perceptual reality monitoring. The focus of the project is to uncover the neural mechanisms of perceptual reality monitoring and how the brain determines whether perceptual experience reflects reality or imagination.
