Research Fellow (Postdoc): The Particle Acceleration Group within the Secondary Sources Division of ELI ALPS is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow (Postdoc) to contribute to the development of laser-driven electron acceleration programs. This role involves commissioning and conducting user operations for the Laser Wakefield Acceleration (LWFA) beamlines, developing relevant diagnostics, and engaging in high-impact scientific research.

Location: ELI ALPS, Szeged, Hungary
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree (or PhD to be awarded by the date of employment, i.e., 1 July 2025) OR at least 10 years of research experience in:
- High-intensity ultrashort laser-plasma interactions
- LWFA experiments
- Electron beam and betatron X-ray diagnostics
- LWFA-related applications
- Excellent publication record in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with career stage
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with an international user community
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- PIC simulations on LWFA
- 3D CAD design
- Analytical/numerical and programming experience (Matlab, LabVIEW, Python)
Job Description: The successful candidate will:
- Conduct research and development of LWFA electron beamlines (eSYLOS and ePW)
- Carry out commissioning ramp-up experiments and user experimental campaigns
- Design and develop instrumentation and diagnostics for electron beamlines
- Analyze experimental data and develop related software
- Prepare peer-reviewed publications and participate in conferences, workshops, and meetings
