Research Fellowship in Physical Chemistry, Institute of Biorobotics, Italy

Post-doctoral Position in Italy

Research Fellowship in Physical Chemistry: Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna is offering a Research Fellowship in the field of Physical Chemistry, focused on developing instrumentation and methods to analyze energy conversion and charging processes on artificial and biological surfaces.

Designation:

Research Fellow

Research Area:

Physical Chemistry (CHEM-02/A)

Location:

Institute of Biorobotics, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy

Eligibility/Qualification:

Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, or an equivalent field.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to develop novel techniques for ultra-high-resolution analysis of energy conversion and charging processes via liquid-solid and solid-solid contact electrification. This research is part of the ERC Consolidator project EpiC, which explores electrification phenomena and their impacts across materials science, energy harvesting, robotics, and biology. Specific tasks include integrating tools such as ultra-precise current measurements, surface chemical analytics, atomic force microscopy, high-speed video analysis, dynamic wetting, and automated robotic systems to study charging events on challenging samples like living plant leaves.

The fellowship offers a gross annual amount of €26,500. The duration is 12 months, renewable upon positive evaluation of the research activities performed.
