Eligibility/Qualification:

  • MSc degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, or equivalent obtained abroad.
  • Knowledge of English.
  • Strong motivation and scientific independence.
  • Previous experience in laboratory techniques, microbial ecology, and in situ/mesocosm experimentation.

Job Description: The project will focus on two study systems: Posidonia oceanica and the sponge Chondrilla nucula, and Cymodocea nodosa and the lucinid bivalve Loripes orbiculatus. The candidate will assess the impact of these associations on reducing stressors in seagrass ecosystems using in situ and mesocosm experiments. Additionally, diversity and function of host-associated and free-living microbes will be investigated.

Fellowship Amount: £19,456.83 gross total over the one-year period (subject to social security contributions but exempt from taxation).
