Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD preferably in Physics or Engineering.
  • Qualifications in:
  • Photonics (ideally Random lasers and/or Optomechanical systems)
  • Numerical methods (ideally condensed matter and/or electromagnetism)
  • Artificial Intelligence (ideally machine learning and/or reservoir computing)

Job Description:

The objective of this research position is to explore and establish the theoretical basis for using photonic and optomechanical interactions in innovative neural network designs and device implementations. Key tasks will include:

  • Studying the operation of optomechanical resonators as reservoirs in space and time.
  • Analyzing networks of coupled random lasers.
  • Defining methods for data coding and weight implementation.
  • Establishing computing strategies and assessing the training and computing capabilities of systems as neural networks.
  • Investigating input-output performance to quantify energy budgets in training and inference operations.
