Job Summary
The National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a highly motivated Research Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will conduct simulation and experimental research focusing on Zinc metal ion batteries with water-in-salt electrolytes or other metal-ion rechargeable aqueous batteries, contributing to the advancement of next-generation energy storage solutions.

Location

Eligibility/Qualification
- A PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Candidates in the final stages of PhD studies (thesis submitted; pending oral defence) may also be considered.
- Experience or strong interest in rechargeable battery research, particularly sodium or other metal-ion batteries.
- Familiarity with computational materials science methods such as molecular dynamics (MD) or density functional theory (DFT).
- Experience with energy storage devices or materials.
- Knowledge of battery electrolytes, including water-in-salt aqueous electrolytes, is an advantage.
- Ability to conduct independent research as well as collaborate effectively with the research team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and scientific writing skills.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct simulation and experimental research on Zinc metal ion batteries with water-in-salt electrolyte or other metal-ion rechargeable aqueous batteries.
- Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on research related to aqueous battery systems.
- Potentially participate in the design and development of battery electrodes and electrolytes.
- Contribute to advancing the understanding and performance of next-generation rechargeable batteries.
