Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher: Join the Approximate Bayesian Inference Team at RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project, working on the “Advanced Integrated Intelligence Platform Project (AIP)” supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan. We are offering positions for Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to fundamental theoretical research and innovative technology development in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Internet of Things, and Cybersecurity.

Designation: Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher (2 positions)

Research Area: Deep Learning, Bayesian Inference, Optimization, Reinforcement Learning

Location: RIKEN Tokyo Area, 1-4-1 Nihonbashi, Chuo, Tokyo

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Research Scientist:
    • Doctoral degree with more than 5 years of experience.
    • Expertise in Bayesian Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Optimization, Active Learning, Continual Learning/Lifelong Learning.
    • Proactive, cooperative, flexible, and good communication skills.
  • Postdoctoral Researcher:
    • Ph.D. or expect to receive a Ph.D. before the date of employment.
    • Published research in machine-learning conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, AISTATS, UAI, ICLR, etc.).
    • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Bayesian Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Optimization, Active Learning, Continual Learning/Lifelong Learning.
    • Proactive, cooperative, flexible, and good communication skills.

Job Description:

Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher – RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project

The candidate will work on the CREST-ANR project titled “A new Bayes-duality principle for adaptive, robust, and lifelong learning of AI”. Responsibilities include conducting research, publishing findings in top machine-learning conferences, assisting in group management, and supervising internship students and technical staff. The position aims to further the careers of early-career researchers interested in pursuing academia.
