Research Scientist (Postdoc) – Hydrogeology: The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Water and Mining Environment Solutions unit. The successful candidate will focus on the fate and transport of PFAS in subsurface environments as part of the “EMERGING-FLOW” project aimed at addressing challenges related to emerging contaminants in Finnish groundwaters.

Job Description
The Research Scientist will work both independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to explore the mechanisms controlling groundwater flow and contaminant transport. Responsibilities include integrating field observations and environmental tracers, developing conceptual and numerical models, and contributing to sustainable water management practices. The candidate will also publish results in peer-reviewed journals and participate in scientific conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting research on the transport and fate of PFAS in Finnish groundwater.
- Collaborating with international partners and Finnish stakeholders.
- Performing fieldwork and data analysis.
- Preparing publications for high-quality journals.
