Eligibility/Qualification
- Education: PhD in hydrogeology, environmental chemistry, or related fields (completed within the last five years; up to seven years for special reasons).
- Experience: Research experience in contaminant hydrogeology, numerical modelling, or PFAS research.
- Skills:
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Fluency in written and spoken English (equivalent CEFR C1).
- Valid driving license B or ability to obtain one shortly.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in field techniques for investigating surface water and groundwater interactions.
- Experience with groundwater dating tracers.
- Knowledge of PFAS chemistry and handling large PFAS datasets.
- An independent, meticulous research approach.
Job Description
The successful candidate will work on the “EMERGING-FLOW” project, aimed at determining the transport and fate of PFAS in Finnish groundwaters and the implications for drinking water supplies and the Baltic Sea. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting field observations and integrating environmental tracers.
- Developing conceptual and numerical models to aid sustainable water management.
- Publishing research results in high-quality journals and presenting findings at scientific conferences and workshops.
- Collaborating with international partners and Finnish stakeholders, including overseas research visits.
