Eligibility/Qualification
- Higher Professional Education (HBO or higher) in biotechnology, microbiology, biochemical engineering, analytical (bio)chemistry, or a similar discipline.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, MS).
- Experience in fermentation laboratories and operating bioreactors.
- Basic knowledge of spectroscopy technologies (e.g., FT-IR, Raman) or a strong motivation to learn.
- Hands-on experience with data collection, integration, and analysis within a laboratory setting.
- Proficient in English; proficiency in Dutch is an asset but not mandatory.
Job Description
As a Research Technician in Off-Gas Spectroscopy, you’ll be part of an interdisciplinary team focused on optimizing bioprocesses for industrial applications such as bio-based production and energy conversion. Your responsibilities will include:
- Culturing pure microbial strains and operating bioreactors.
- Performing key spectroscopy analyses and data analysis.
- Supporting automation and hardware integration between bioreactors and sensor systems.
- Collaborating closely with researchers, PhD candidates, postdocs, and fellow technicians from TU Delft and CU Boulder.
- Contributing to the understanding and optimization of microbial fermentation and biofilm-based microbial electrosynthesis processes.
