Researcher in Multiphysics Continuum Modeling: The Computational Materials Science group at KU Leuven is offering exciting opportunities for PhD and Postdoctoral researchers in the field of multiphysics continuum modeling at the grain scale. This position focuses on the development of advanced simulation approaches and machine learning tools for the next generation of battery materials under the FULL-MAP project, funded by the European Union.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A PhD or Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics.
  • Experience in programming and a keen interest in the development of numerical methods and their application in engineering.
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both oral and written.

Job Description

The selected candidates will be involved in one or both of the following tasks:

  1. Development and implementation of physics-based continuum models to predict the cycle life of cathode and anode materials.
  2. Training of a Large Language Model (LLM) that functions as a “co-researcher” for enhancing pre- and post-processing of numerical simulations.

As a part of this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary research team of engineers and scientists while contributing significantly to an innovative project aimed at designing novel battery materials.
