🔬 Research Area & Project Focus

Positioned within the Sabine Taschner-Mandl Group, this project focuses on the analysis of single-cell and multi-omics data from patient samples. The ultimate goal is to uncover the tumor microenvironment and the (epi)genetic drivers of neuroblastoma using cutting-edge computational methods.


🧬 Eligibility & Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should bring:

  • Education: An MSc or PhD degree (completed or near completion) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or Cancer Genomics.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in R and Python, with hands-on experience in NGS data analysis. Strong preference is given to candidates with experience in cancer genomics, single-cell RNA-seq, and/or ATAC-seq analysis.
  • Knowledge Base: Familiarity with cell biology, cancer biology, or molecular biology concepts.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. You should possess a well-organized, hard-working approach driven by genuine scientific curiosity.

📋 Job Description & Responsibilities

As a member of the research team, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and applying bioinformatic approaches for single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data analysis alongside multimodal integration.
  • Integrating other omics modalities, such as somatic copy number and mutation analysis.
  • Collaborating closely with wet-lab team members to interpret omics findings in a translational, clinical context.
  • Writing scientific manuscripts and presenting your research findings at national and international conferences.
  • Applying for competitive PhD/Postdoc fellowships as part of your ongoing professional development.
