About- The Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow, a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for the temporary engagement of Project Staff under various CSIR and externally funded research projects. The recruitment covers 33 positions across Project Associate, Senior Project Associate, Project Scientist, Project Research Scientist-II, Junior Research Assistant, Project Assistant-I and Project Technical Support-III categories.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Eligibility varies according to the position and project. Major qualifications include:
Project Associate-I
- M.Sc./Master’s degrees in subjects such as Zoology, Environmental Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Life Sciences and related disciplines.
- Some positions accept M.Tech/M.Sc. in Life Sciences, Microbiology or Biotechnology.
- One position requires B.Tech in Biotechnology or Master’s in Biochemistry/Microbiology/Toxicology.
Project Associate-II
- Master’s/Integrated Master’s in Natural, Agricultural or Pharmaceutical Sciences, Animal Sciences or related fields, with 2 years of R&D experience, or qualifying Engineering/Technology/Medicine degrees with the required experience.
- Specific positions require Master’s degrees in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or B.Tech/M.Tech in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science with relevant experience.
Senior Project Associate
- B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science/IT with 3 years of research experience, or M.Tech in Computer Science/IT.
- Another position requires a Master’s in Zoology/Biotechnology plus 3 years of R&D experience, or a PhD in Biotechnology.
Project Scientist-I
- Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s/Integrated Master’s in Engineering/Technology plus 4 years of R&D experience for the IT position.
- Doctoral degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Microbiology or Environmental Sciences plus 4 years of R&D experience for the biological sciences position.
- A further position accepts a Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s in Public Health with four years of R&D experience.
Project Research Scientist-II
- Postgraduate/integrated postgraduate degree in Life Sciences or allied subjects with 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience, or PhD in Life Sciences/allied subjects.
- Experience in cancer cell lines, rodent cancer models, NGS, proteomics or patient-derived organoids is desirable.
Junior Research Assistant
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. in Environment/Civil from a recognized university/institute.
- High academic attainment with First Class in Graduate and Postgraduate examinations.
- Relevant experience in polymer-based filter media and air-pollution control is desirable.
The minimum age for applying is 18 years. The upper age limits generally range from 28 to 40 years, depending on the post. SC/ST, PwBD and women candidates receive 5 years’ relaxation, while OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates receive 3 years’ relaxation.

Salary / Fellowship
Monthly remuneration varies by position:
- Project Associate-I: ₹25,000 + HRA; ₹31,000 + HRA for candidates with valid CSIR-UGC/ICMR/ICAR NET, GATE or specified national-level qualification.
- Project Associate-II: ₹28,000 + HRA; ₹35,000 + HRA for eligible NET/GATE/national-level qualified candidates.
- Senior Project Associate: ₹42,000 + HRA.
- Project Scientist-I: ₹56,000 + HRA.
- Project Research Scientist-II: ₹67,000 + HRA.
- Junior Research Assistant: ₹25,000/month for the first two years and ₹28,000/month in the third year.
- Project Assistant-I: ₹18,000 + HRA.
- Project Technical Support-III: ₹28,000 + HRA.
