Eligibility/Qualification
- A relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification experience in mechanical or biomedical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in finite element modelling and data-driven multiphysics approaches.
- Fluency in programming languages such as Python, Fortran, MATLAB, and/or C/C++.
- Prior work with common finite element simulation software is required.
Job Description
The appointed candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Johannes Weickenmeier in a pioneering interdisciplinary team focused on understanding brain shape changes due to age, injury, and neurodegeneration. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing multiphysical constitutive models of cortical tissue degeneration.
- Analyzing longitudinal medical imaging data to infer mechanisms related to brain aging and injury.
- Conducting research to identify biomarkers that differentiate between healthy and accelerated brain aging.
- Collaborating on projects, providing guidance to researchers and students, and leading the writing of papers.
- Applying for funding to support ongoing research efforts.
