SNI PhD Fellowship: The Swiss Nanoscience Institute (SNI) invites applications for a fully funded 4-year PhD Fellowship in the research groups of Roderick Lim and Maria Hondele at the Biozentrum, University of Basel, Switzerland. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in the fields of nuclear pore complexes and membraneless organelles.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Applicants with backgrounds in biochemistry, biophysics, nanoscience, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in atomic force microscopy (AFM) or high-speed AFM (HS-AFM) is advantageous.
  • Candidates should be capable of independent research, possess strong communication skills, and have a solid command of oral and written English.

Job Description: The SNI PhD Fellow will:

  • Join the research groups of Roderick Lim and Maria Hondele to investigate liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) at the nanoscale.
  • Utilize biophysical, molecular, and cellular approaches to explore the dynamics and selectivity of biomolecular condensates and membraneless organelles.
  • Employ advanced techniques such as high-speed atomic force microscopy (HS-AFM), fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), and more.
  • Contribute to undergraduate-level teaching.
  • Collaborate in a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and stimulating research environment at the Biozentrum.
