Job Description: The Postdoctoral Researcher will have the following responsibilities:

  • Characterize and analyze interactions and traits of enrichments and isolates using in-silico and experiment-based approaches.
  • Design and conduct novel experiments and protocols utilizing environmental microbiology, molecular biology, and analytical chemistry techniques.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of postdocs and scientists, ensuring regular and clear communication to facilitate program goals.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at internal groups and national/international meetings.
  • Mentor undergraduates and junior scientists, fostering a collaborative and supportive research environment.
  • Assist in writing project reports and contribute to day-to-day lab maintenance.
  • Utilize microfabrication and microfluidic design, construction, and operation techniques.

Eligibility/Qualification: The ideal candidate should have:

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Microbiology, Biogeochemistry, Soil Science, Biochemistry, Plant and Microbial Biology, or a closely related field.
  • Extensive experience working with diverse soil/sediment microbes and a strong background in microbial physiology.
  • Proficiency in performing chemical, spectroscopic, analytical, and molecular techniques.
  • Ability to work carefully yet efficiently to meet project goals within specified timelines.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in growing plants, providing valuable insights into plant-microbial interactions.
  • Working knowledge of R package for statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Proficiency in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data, facilitating comprehensive microbial community studies.
  • Experience with genetic manipulation of bacteria, including targeted gene deletion.
